I recently had the opportunity to interview the sensational Gisele Shaw. Shaw has been wowing wrestling fans throughout the Prairies and Western Canada this past year. This Storm Wrestling Academy graduate is more than willing to meet any challenger inside the squared circle and is prepared to show them her technical wrestling and high flying skills.

a

North Starz:  What got you into professional wrestling? Have you always been a fan?

Gisele Shaw:  It has always been my dream to become a professional wrestler. I have always been a fan my entire life. I watched it with my grandparents and parents.

a

North Starz:  Do you currently have a favourite wrestler or somebody from that past who inspires you?

Gisele Shaw:  Trish Stratus! She really revolutionized women’s wrestling. She proved that you can look good and be a phenomenal athlete who can perform in the ring as a top level superstar regardless of gender.

North Starz:  How would you describe your wrestling style and what are some of your best holds and most devastating moves?

Gisele Shaw:  I am a technical highflyer. Probably have to say chick kick, eat defeat, corkscrew crossbody or plancha.

a

North Starz:  What is the most significant moment of your career thus far?

Gisele Shaw:  Helping make women’s matches more than just a side attraction on wrestling cards throughout Central and Western Canada. The girls I’ve wrestled and I have worked hard to get women’s matches the recognition and respect that they deserve. Women’s matches in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and B.C. are looked at by the fans as on par and above the quality of the men’s matches on many shows because of the athleticism and in-ring work we showcase. This is largely thanks to promoters in these provinces giving us a chance to show that we can add tons of legitimate entertainment value for the fans.
a

North Starz:  Is there a specific opponent or any specific promotion/places that you would you like to face or wrestle for in the near future?

Gisele Shaw:  I would love to get to Eastern Canada, the United States and overseas and wrestle as many opponents as I can.

a

North Starz:  What are some of your fondness memories from training at Storm Wrestling Academy?

Gisele Shaw:  Everything from my time training there, I had such a great time learning the sport I couldn’t get enough of it!

a

North Starz:  Speaking of Lance Storm, you have an upcoming mixed tag team match for Prairie Wrestling Alliance. You are teaming up with Brett Morgan and are taking on your former trainer Lance Storm and newcomer Rachael Ellering. What are your thoughts about this match up especially since you are taking on your former trainer?

Gisele Shaw:  I am looking forward to this match very much. I think it’s a great opportunity to be involved in a match against Lance Storm and be able to showcase how far I have come since training.

North Starz:  WWE Hall Of Famer “Precious” Paul Ellering’s daughter Rachael Ellering is going to burst onto the wrestling scene. What are your thoughts about her and are you worried about her athletic ability and wrestling pedigree?

Gisele Shaw:  Absolutely not! I think she’s a great athlete but my goal is to be the best of the best and I am prepared to take out any competition on my way to the top!

a

North StarzWhat are you’re wrestling related goals heading into 2016?

Gisele Shaw:  I want to wrestle as many opponents as I can in as many cities, provinces, and countries as I can. I want everyone in the wrestling scene around the world to know who Gisele Shaw is.

a

North Starz What are your thoughts on the women’s independent professional wrestling scene in Canada?

Gisele Shaw:  I think there’s not enough women in the independent scene in Canada right now but the ones that are wrestling right now are hardworking and are setting the groundwork for new generations of girls to be interested in becoming professional wrestlers.

a

North StarzIs there anything that you would like to say to your fans or detractors?

Gisele Shaw:  To my fans thank you for your support, I hope you see how hard I work to entertain you. To my detractors, I hope you’ll give me an opportunity to show you that I’m not just another pretty face. I am a professional athlete who will do anything that I can in the ring to maintain the integrity of this business that we all love.
