I had the opportunity to recently speak with the high energy, charismatic and always entertaining Canadian wrestling star Alexia Nicole. Alexia Nicole turned heads when she was featured in the Toronto Sun as a Sunshine Girl but she also turns the fans heads when she is competing inside of the ring because of her high flying and explosive style which leaves her opponents run ragged and pinned before they know it. In addition, Alexia Nicole has had an awesome 2015, as she teamed up and also battled with her good friend WWE NXT Diva Aliyah for AIW (Absolute Intense Wrestling). In addition, Alexia Nicole recently captured the PWA Women’s Championship as well. There is no doubt that 2016 will be Alexia Nicole’s year.
North Starz: What got you into professional wrestling? Have you always been a wrestling fan?
Alexia Nicole: I got into wrestling the same way that most people did, I watched it on tv when I was younger and always wanted to do it.
North Starz: You are one of the toughest wrestlers that I have ever seen battling through some tough injuries thus far in your career. How are you feeling now?
Alexia Nicole: I feel better than ever. Every now and then I feel a little sore but that just comes with the business.
North Starz: What is the most significant moment of your career thus far?
Alexia Nicole: My most significant moment would still have to be my AIW debut last year. That show really got my name out there.
North Starz: Who is your favourite opponent or you’re favourite match thus far in your career?
Alexia Nicole: My favourite match so far in my career was my last match with Aliyah back in March. We’ve wrestled each other so many times but we did things in this match that we hadn’t done before with each other. It was also a little emotional; we trained together, travelled together, and spent so much time together over the past few years.
North Starz: Is there any promotions that you would like to wrestle for and a specific wrestler that you would you like to face?
Alexia Nicole: There’s no specific promotion or opponent but I would like to expand as I want to wrestle all over the world.
North Starz: Congratulations on recently winning the PWA Women’s Championship however many say this was a controversial and tainted victory. Can you clarify your actions at the end of the match and what do you have to say to Beautiful Beaa and her fans who claim this was an unfair win?
Alexia Nicole: It wasn’t unfair at all. I hurt my knee during the match, but everyone knows that I’ve never let an injury keep me from finishing a match. I didn’t ask her to come over for help. As a champion, you have to be on guard at all times. She let her guard down, which gave me an opportunity and why would I turn away that opportunity?
North Starz: Is there any other specific championships that you have your sights set on?
Alexia Nicole: My eye is on the prize everywhere I go. I know I’m capable of being a champion no matter where I am.
North Starz: What are you’re wrestling related goals heading into 2016?
Alexia Nicole: My goals are always to keep getting better.
North Starz: What are your thoughts on the women’s independent professional wrestling scene in Canada?
Alexia Nicole: I can’t speak for all of Canada, but I feel like women’s independent wrestling is getting better and better in Ontario. There aren’t a lot of local girls, but the quality of most of those girls is high and that’s not common everywhere.
Thank you very much for taking the time for doing this interview it is greatly appreciated and best wishes heading into 2016.
