I recently had the opportunity to interview the sensational Gisele Shaw. Shaw has been wowing wrestling fans throughout the Prairies and Western Canada this past year. This Storm Wrestling Academy graduate is more than willing to meet any challenger inside the squared circle and is prepared to show them her technical wrestling and high flying skills.
North Starz: What got you into professional wrestling? Have you always been a fan?
Gisele Shaw: It has always been my dream to become a professional wrestler. I have always been a fan my entire life. I watched it with my grandparents and parents.
North Starz: Do you currently have a favourite wrestler or somebody from that past who inspires you?
Gisele Shaw: Trish Stratus! She really revolutionized women’s wrestling. She proved that you can look good and be a phenomenal athlete who can perform in the ring as a top level superstar regardless of gender.
North Starz: How would you describe your wrestling style and what are some of your best holds and most devastating moves?
Gisele Shaw: I am a technical highflyer. Probably have to say chick kick, eat defeat, corkscrew crossbody or plancha.
North Starz: What is the most significant moment of your career thus far?
Gisele Shaw: Helping make women’s matches more than just a side attraction on wrestling cards throughout Central and Western Canada. The girls I’ve wrestled and I have worked hard to get women’s matches the recognition and respect that they deserve. Women’s matches in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and B.C. are looked at by the fans as on par and above the quality of the men’s matches on many shows because of the athleticism and in-ring work we showcase. This is largely thanks to promoters in these provinces giving us a chance to show that we can add tons of legitimate entertainment value for the fans.
North Starz: Is there a specific opponent or any specific promotion/places that you would you like to face or wrestle for in the near future?
Gisele Shaw: I would love to get to Eastern Canada, the United States and overseas and wrestle as many opponents as I can. (continue reading…)
