North Starz.ca recently had the opportunity to interview an up and coming pro wrestling talent named Yasmin Christ. She is based out of Montreal, Quebec and has made a great impression thus far inside of the squared circle. Yasmin exhibits the great combination of beauty and athletic ability inside the ring and is looking forward to impressing the fans and taking on all challengers.
North Starz.ca: First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time for doing this interview with North Starz.ca and I hope that you are doing well. My first question for you is why did you decide to become a professional wrestler? Have you always been a wrestling fan?
Yasmin Christ: My pleasure! My dad has been a wrestling fan his whole life and had me watching it with him when I was 5 years old and since then I’ve never stopped. So yes, I’ve always been a fan. A few years back I was watching and the thought suddenly came to me “why don’t I give it a try?” I’ve always loved it and thought it would be a great experience and challenge and it’s been exactly that so far.
North Starz.ca: What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of wrestling?
Yasmin Christ: Outside of wrestling I enjoy reading. The picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde is my favorite novel. I am currently in beauty school, I love working with make up and nails. Also, I love going to the gym and going for a jog on a nice day just to clear my mind after a stressful day.
North Starz.ca: Tell me about where you trained to become a professional wrestler and the people who have supported you the most there so far.
Yasmin Christ: I trained at the Torture Chamber Pro Wrestling Dojo ran by Dru Onyx. I was there for a year and then graduated. It’s a great facility that emphasizes the fundamentals. By far the number 1 most supportive person through this whole journey to this date would be my boyfriend, Idris, who I met at the Chamber during my time there. He’s become my best friend and my biggest supporter in life and in wrestling.
North Starz.ca: Do you have any wrestlers that you look up to or are your inspiration?
Yasmin Christ: Growing up, I looked up to Maria Kanellis. I found her so beautiful and loved all her gear plus she was kicking butt! As a little girl I found that the most amazing thing. I wanted to be just like her. During my time at the Torture Chamber I watched Jessika Black reach her success in the Femmes Fatales division and it inspired me. I used it as motivation as well.
North Starz.ca: Reflect back and tell me about the emotions that you had when you stepped into the ring for your first professional wrestling match.
Yasmin Christ: I was nervous yet extremely excited! All those grueling hours at night during practice after long days at school or work was finally paying off in that moment and I couldn’t be happier. I was proud with what I’ve accomplished, a dream came true.
North Starz.ca: How would you describe your wrestling style and what are some of your best holds and or most devastating moves?
Yasmin Christ: I would say I’m more of a technical wrestler. I love chain wrestling, the possibilities seem endless and I’m always creating different combinations. The Koji Clutch and Neckbreaker would be my best and most devastating moves.
North Starz.ca: What is your finishing move and why did you decide to choose it?
Yasmin Christ: The Neckbreaker is my finishing move. I spent a lot of time perfecting this move and making it as devastating as can be. My alternate finisher is the Koji Clutch and I also spent a lot of time making sure it was perfect. You rarely see women bust out this submission and that makes it even cooler than it already is!
North Starz.ca: Thus far in your career who has been your toughest opponent that you have faced? What are your personal feelings about them?
Yasmin Christ: Vanessa Kraven has been my toughest opponent for sure. Not to mention it was also my first match ever so that made it even more tough! But it was a great challenge and experience and I loved it. Vanessa is such a sweet person, and I knew I was in good hands working with her and I wasn’t even worried. I enjoyed the two matches I had with her and would love to do it again.
North Starz.ca: Is there anything that you would like to say to wrestling fans?
Yasmin Christ: They’re amazing and their support means the world to me! None of it would be possible without them. They bring the energy and excitement that helps us do what we love.
North Starz.ca: What are your thoughts about the women’s independent professional wrestling scene in Canada?
Yasmin Christ: Full of talent and very diverse. Lots of great woman wrestlers here in Canada and I’m proud to be able to work with them. Fresh talent keeps on coming out these past few years and that makes it even better.
North Starz.ca: What are you’re wrestling related goals heading into 2017?
Yasmin Christ: My goal for 2017 is to expand myself and wrestle in different promotions across Canada and learn as much as I possibly can.
North Starz.ca would like to thank Yasmin Christ for taking the time to do this interview it is really appreciated. I would also like to wish Yasmin all the best in her wrestling career and I am looking forward to seeing her win championship gold in the near future.
